Fade In: The barge carrying our heroes down the sewer system has stopped in front of a large grate. The grate complete
blocks the sewer while still allowing water and sludge to flow through. Dr. Who, Ramana and Seven are standing on a ledge nest to the barge. Dr. Who is waving his sonic screwdriver over a control panel. Seven is holding a tricorder and Ramana is looking over her shoulder. The rest of the group are alternately looking up and down the sewer system and at the three next to the control panel. DR.WHO: Almost there. What does the reading say now. SEVEN: The circuits are switching, wait a moment. RAMANA: There. You've done it. With an audible beep, the control panel lights green. The grate rises. Leonie and T'racy reach out to steady the barge from flowing through the opening. ERIC: Open sesame! SEVEN: Pardon? ERIC: An expression from childhood stories. Never mind. Dr. Who, Ramana and Seven climb back onto the barge. Leonie and T'racy let go of the walls while Andy and Tim push off with their oars. SEVEN: We should now be under the star port complex. This main sewage pipe flows straight through to the bay. Several smaller tunnels branch off of this one. The tunnels are too small to take the barge down. DR. WHO: Can you determine where the Dalek control area is? RAMANA: I have a pretty good idea. From what I've studied of the map we saw earlier, I think I can find it. DR. WHO: Good. Tim, Andy, pull the barge over here to this ledge. It's time we got off. The barge floats over to the ledge indicated by Dr. Who. Andy and Tim hold the barge steady while Ramana, Seven, Jules, Leonie, T'racy and Eric get off. Doctor Who finds a rope and hands it to Eric. DR. WHO: Eric, tie the boat to that pipe so it doesn't float away. I don't think we'll use it in our escape but it's best to be prepared. Eric ties the barge to the mooring pipe while Dr. Who, Andy and Tim get off. DR. WHO: Here Ramana, take this. Dr. Who hands Ramana K-9's dog whistle. RAMANA: Why are you handing me this? DR. WHO: When you are ready to infect the computer. Blow the whistle so K-9 can tell Ruth to start the diversion. RAMANA: But why won't you be able to do it? DR. WHO: Because I have another mission to attend to. We're going to have to separate here. RAMANA: Separate? Another mission? What are you talking about? DR. WHO: Stopping the Daleks with your computer virus might not be enough. I need to find out what they're doing here. Why they simply haven't exterminated all life on this planet. RAMANA: You're not going alone, are you? DR. WHO: I hadn't planned on it. We can split up into two teams. Seven, you can come with me along with Tim, Andy and Eric. Ramana, you take Jules, Leonie and T'racy. RAMANA: I would prefer Seven to be with me. SEVEN: Yes. I have extensive knowledge with computer systems assimilation. I would be more valuable aiding Ramana. DR. WHO: OK. Seven, you go with Ramana. Jules, you're with me. The two groups form and head out. The first group, led by Ramana and Seven, stop at an access ladder and begin to climb to the surface. Dr. Who's group continues down a side tunnel. Seven eases the manhole cover back and looks around. She brings her tricorder up and does a quick scan. SEVEN: No Daleks in the immediate vicinity. Lt. Peters. You and T'racy take the point. Secure this area. LEONIE: Yes ma'am. T'racy and Leonie quickly climb the ladder, phasers ready. Seven steps aside and Ramana climbs out. RAMANA: According to the map, we're in a maintenance area just off from the computer control area. The area should be swarming with Daleks. SEVEN: It is. The tricorder detects numerous Daleks in the control center and at least four in the outer area between us and the entrance. RAMANA: Normally a single server directs the Dalek movements. When the Daleks are in combat, other servers come on-line. There is a brief moment of confusion for the Daleks while the switch over is made. SEVEN: We'll need to make our move during that moment. T'RACY: How long will the moment be? Surely we won't be able to get in and out in time. RAMANA: The moment is just that, a moment. No, we won't be able to get in and out. We should, however, be able to eliminate the outer guards and slip in undetected. LEONIE: That will require precision and timing, eliminating the four guards at the same time. SEVEN: I have confidence in our abilities to perform this task. CUT TO: A similar maintenance area. Tim, Andy and Eric stand next to the door while Jules and Dr. Who climb out of the maintenance shaft. TIM: These are the research and development labs. I remember them from a tour I took when I was younger. DR. WHO: Yes. The Daleks are up to something. They're always tinkering. JULES: But how do we find out what they're doing? We can't just wander around the labs. DR. WHO: Good point. We need a plan. ERIC: Well, you better think of a plan fast. A Dalek is coming this way. DR. WHO: Everybody hide! Back against the walls. Don't fire. Everyone move toward the shadows and walls in the maintenance area. Dr. Who steps to one side of the entry way and takes his floppy hat off. A lone Dalek enters the room. Dr. Who deftly tosses his hat onto the central stalk protruding from the Dalek's domed head. DALEK: WAR-NING. WAR-NING. OP-TIC-AL SEN-SORS MAL-FUN-CTION-ING. ERR-OR. ERR-OR. The Dalek begins to swing its head round and round while spinning out of control. DR. WHO: Quickly. Grab him. Hold him steady. Tim, Jules, Andy and Eric grab onto the Dalek. Dr. Who come up behind it and uses his sonic screwdriver. The Dalek's domed head pops up and it grows still. DR. WHO: Now, hand me that tricorder. Andy hands Dr. Who a tricorder. Dr. Who runs the tricorder over the opening in the Dalek's head. He fiddles with the tricorder for a moment then pushes the Dalek's head back down. DR. WHO: There, that should do it. ANDY: Do what? DR. WHO: Oh, just a little trick I learned when I visited the city of Troy on your Earth. Ramana isn't the only one who knows Dalek programming. The Dalek activates, spins around and heads out of the storage area. JULES: Where's it going? DR. WHO: I told it to lead us to the main research area. Come on, follow it. Cut to: Ramana, Seven, Leonie and T'racy. All four have taken sniper positions, phaser rifles ready. Lined up in their sights are four Daleks guarding the entrance to the control center. RAMANA: Now, let's just hope their in position. SEVEN: How long should we give Ruth's team before we attack. RAMANA: About enough time for my hearts to beat once. I'll blow the whistle and give the command to fire. Don't fire until then. SEVEN: Understood. Ramana takes K-9's dog whistle and blows, sending the silent signal out. Cut to: Ruth's commando team, stationed across from a Dalek recycler. Terry and Jason are located in the upper stories of a burnt out building with heavy rocket weapons. Ginny and D'alaire are in a similar location on the opposite side. Ruth and the rest of her group are scattered around the recycler. K-9 waits patiently next to Ruth. K-9 lifts his head and his ears start to twirl. K-9: Mistress Ruth, they have given the signal. RUTH: Ok everyone, ... Cut to: Ramana and her group. RAMANA: ... Fire! Phaser beams reach out toward the unsuspecting Daleks. The Daleks explode sending a rain of sparks and debris into the air. The whole area fills with the sound of explosions and the ground shakes. LEONIE: It appears Ruth's team was ready. T'RACY: Either that or the Daleks pack quite a punch when they explode. RAMANA: It worked. Quickly, move into the control center. Cut to: The Doctor and his group. The lone Dalek skims down the corridor followed by Andy, Dr. Who, Jules, Tim and Eric. Explosions echo through the corridor. The area shakes and everyone tries to keep their balance. DR. WHO: Sounds like it's begun. The Dalek leads them to a large set of double doors. The doors part to allow access to a large laboratory. Computers line the walls and tables in the room. A couple of Daleks move about the room performing various tasks. Standing in the center of the room, coordinating the activity are two figures. One is a tall middle aged man in a white lab coat. The other figure is smaller and confined to a wheelchair type device. This being is more machine than man, a desiccated husk of a head and torso confined to the body of a Dalek mobile unit. JULES: Father! DR. WHO: Davros! TIM: You know our father? DR. WHO: Your father is Davros? JULES: Yes. Professor Davros. But who is the old man riding in the Dalek body? DR. WHO: That's Davros, creator of the Daleks. Cut to: The Dalek control center. Ramana, Seven, Leonie and T'racy enter the control center and blast away. In moments the Daleks in the control room are smoldering cinders. SEVEN: Lt. Peters. You and T'racy guard the entrances. Ramana and Seven head to the main control station. Ramana sits down and activates the console. Seven takes a station to Ramana's right and begins to mirror her actions. SEVEN: This programming language is very logical. These Daleks are similar to the Borg. RAMANA: Yes. Machine thought tends to be methodical and logical. I am glad you are here. SEVEN: I shall begin writing the primary algorithms. Thank you. I am glad to assist you. Cut to: Davros' research lab. Davros and Prof. Davros turn toward the intrusion into their lab. PROF. DAVROS: Jules! Tim! So good to see you. I had feared you were killed. Come, come. See what we are working on. DAVROS: What is this in-tru-sion? My Da-leks, re-move them. PROF. DAVROS: No Davros, wait. These are my children. Please let me show them our work, our legacy. DR. WHO: Yes Davros, show us your accomplishments. We have come a long way to give you the respect you deserve. DAVROS: Very well. Da-leks, a-llow these to con-tin-ue. Back to your sta-tions. PROF. DAVROS: My children come here. Jules and Tim approach their father. He embraces them warmly. Dr. Who walks up to the group and peers at what they are working on. Andy and Eric keep a wary eye on the Daleks. PROF. DAVROS: Come, see. We've done it. TIM: Done what? PROF. DAVROS: Why my life prolongation experiments. We've isolated and eliminated the bad genes. I've found a cure to all our suffering. No more disease, no more dying. Isn't that wonderful? I only wish your mother were still alive to see it. DR. WHO: Yes, interesting genetic mapping. I see you've also isolated and removed a lot of what makes you Kaleds. This formula will turn you into nothing more but neural tissue. PROF. DAVROS: A small price to pay. Davros here answered that question long ago. He's willing to provide us with as many Dalek mobile units as necessary. JULES: And end to suffering? Father, the Kaled civilization has suffered the most since the arrival of these Dalek invaders. PROF. DAVROS: No, no. You've got it wrong. They're here to help us. DAVROS: In-va-ders? We have reached out from a-cross time and space to our fellow selves. We are not in-va-ders. We are your bro-thers. TIM: This is madness. We can't sacrifice ourselves to your twisted schemes. PROF. DAVROS: You're not listening. This is what I've been working my whole life for. With Davros' help, I've cured death. If only he'd come sooner, your mother would still be alive. JULES: Father this is insane. Can't you see what he's doing? He plans to turn us all into his Dalek soldiers. He'll send us out to other planets to conquer them, just as they've done here. We won't do it. It's wrong! DAVROS: You will do it! You will o-bey me! I am Dav-ros! I am your lea-der! Da-leks! Seize them! DALEKS: WE WILL O-BEY! EX-TER-MIN-ATE! EX-TER-MIN-ATE! Andy and Eric open fire on the approaching Daleks. ANDY: No exterminations today. ERIC: Not us anyway. Cut to: The Dalek control area. Seven and Ramana input the final command lines. RAMANA: There. That should do it. SEVEN: When will we know if we're successful. LEONIE: Look, the Daleks are going crazy. RAMANA: I think we know. In the distance can be seen Daleks spinning out of control. Some of the Daleks are colliding with each other. T'RACY: Do we dare risk going out there now? SEVEN: We have no choice. We must make it back to the barge. The group heads out of the control area and start toward the maintenance hatch to the sewers below. An errant Dalek comes up behind them. DALEK: ERR-OR! EX-TER-MIN-ATE! ERR-OR! WAR-NING! WEA-PONS MAL-FUN-CTION! The Dalek spins around out of control. Random shots are fired from the Daleks on board weapons. RAMANA: No! Ramana shoves Seven out of the way of the Daleks blasts. T'racy and Leonie turn and destroy the Dalek but not before the stray shot hits Ramana squarely. Ramana lets out an anguished moan and collapses. SEVEN: Ramana! You are injured. Seven takes a tricorder and scans Ramana. SEVEN: I do not understand your physiology but I can determine you are critically injured. Ramana is in visible pain. RAMANA: Yes. Seven reaches into a small pouch on her belt and withdraws a hypo which she injects Ramana with. SEVEN: This should ease your pain. We must get you to the TARDIS and treatment. RAMANA: No time. SEVEN: I fear your injuries may be life threatening. You may die. RAMANA: No, I won't die. Time Lords are different. SEVEN: Different? RAMANA: A Time Lord, or Time Lady such as myself, has multiple lives. When we are mortally injured, we enter a chrysalis state. Our injuries are repaired and our body is completely rebuilt. SEVEN: Then there is nothing to worry about. You will be fine. RAMANA: Yes and no. You see, not just our body is rebuilt but the whole person is. I will no longer be this Ramana. SEVEN: Who will you be? RAMANA: I don't know. This is my first regeneration and I'm scared. I like who I am. SEVEN: Then we must save you. LEONIE: Taking her down to the barge is out of the question. T'RACY: I saw what looked like ground transportation over in that direction. SEVEN: Good. We will appropriate it. One of you will drive while I tend to Ramana. T'RACY: I'll drive. Seven picks Ramana up gently in her arms and carries her to a small hover car parked nearby. After placing Ramana in the back, everyone else climbs in. RAMANA: Please do not tell anyone about this. SEVEN: Won't the Doctor find out? He deserves to know. RAMANA: Yes but not this time. This is a very personal time for me right now. I don't want him to see me like this. T'RACY: Everyone in? Good. Hang on! The hover car speeds off... Cut to: The Dalek research area. PROF. DAVROS: No, no, no. Now look at what you've done. DAVROS: Guards! Re-port to your lea-der! Ex-ter-min-ate the in-tru-ders! DR. WHO: Andy, Eric, watch the doors. Now, Davros. It's time we talked. DAVROS: You have no-thing to say to me. DR. WHO: Yes I do. Do you think your Daleks will continue to obey you? What if I told you the Daleks were only using you for their own ends. They weren't planning on letting you leave this planet. DAVROS: That is in-cor-rect! I am their lea-der! DR. WHO: Really? Then where are they now? Hm? How come they haven't rescued you from us? DAVROS: They will come. DR. WHO: No they won't and I'll tell you why. You were to be eliminated anyway. The designs are in place to turn this whole planet into Dalek soldiers. Your work is done, they don't need you any more. They left you here for us to deal with. After we disposed of you, they plan to dispose of us. DAVROS: You are in err-or! Err-or! DR. WHO: You're not even the real Davros. You're an imitation. A clone. DAVROS: Err-or! Err-or! I am Dav-ros! DR. WHO: No, you are a clone. Here, I'll prove it. Once upon a time you were a normal, bipedal Kaled like the rest of your people, before the war. My question is; who gave you your first kiss? DAVROS: Kiss? Kiss is ir-rel-e-vant! I am Dav-ros! DR. WHO: See, you can't remember, can you? DAVROS: That proves no-thing. A lot has hap-pened since the war. My mind is not as it was. DR. WHO: What? The supreme Davros is faulty? OK, granted, a lot has happened in your life. Perhaps you forgot. Here's something you should remember. Tell me about your mother. What color were her eyes? What did she smell like? DAVROS: Ir-rel-e-vant! Ir-rel-e-vant! DR. WHO: Irrelevant or you can't remember? Which is it? I say you can't remember and I'll tell you why. This information isn't in the Dalek data banks. When they cloned you, they programmed you with the data they had about you. None of this information was ever stored. Yet this information is something that no one would ever forget. You are a clone and the Daleks plan to dispose of you. DAVROS: Err-or! Err-or! Smoke rises from Davros mobile unit and he slumps down into unconsciousness. PROF. DAVROS: No, no. It's all ruined. All my work ruined. TIM: Father, this work isn't right. Look around at the suffering it's caused. Think about the suffering and hurt I've gone through for it. I don't know you. You don't really know me. Your work needs to end. PROF. DAVROS: But I meant to stop the suffering. Stop the death. Ohh... Prof. Davros collapses. DR. WHO: We can't stay here. The group heads out into the corridor. Eric and Andy take the point followed by Dr. Who. Jules and Tim carry their father out. Confusion greets the group as the head out of the corridor into an open area of the star port. Daleks seem to be moving aimlessly about or spinning around, flailing their appendages. Warning and error sounds emanate from the malfunctioning Daleks. DR. WHO: Looks like Ramana and Seven were successful. Now to find them and head back to the TARDIS. A crashing sound is heard to the left. The group turns and sees a large transport barreling through the walls of the star port. Ginny, D'alaire, Terry and Jason jump off the transport and begin destroying errant Daleks. Ruth and K-9 climb down and approach Dr. Who. RUTH: All the Dalek machinery is malfunctioning. I don't know how you did it but you did. Thank you. We owe you our civilization. DR. WHO: Oh, think nothing of it. All in a day's work. Have you seen the rest of my friends by any chance? RUTH: No, but if you climb on board, I'm sure we can track them down. Dr. Who, K-9, Andy, Eric, Tim, Jules and Prof. Davros join Ruth on board the heavy transport. Ruth shifts the transport into gear and slowly moves through the star port. As the transport moves through the various hangers, the group notices a small hover car rapidly approaching them. The car containing Ramana, Seven, Leonie and T'racy pulls along side. Ramana tries her best to hide her pain from Dr. Who. SEVEN: We have commandeered this ground transportation and planned to meet you at your TARDIS. DR. WHO: You were successful in infecting the computer I see. SEVEN: Yes. The Daleks are all inactive. I believe we can leave the rest to Ruth and her fellow Kaleds. RUTH: We'll be able to take care of it from here. Thank you. DR. WHO: Well, we'll meet you at the TARDIS. Do you know the way? SEVEN: Yes. DR. WHO: Ramana, you seem unusually quiet. Is everything all right? RAMANA: Yes Doctor. I'm fine. Just tired. I'll see you at the TARDIS. DR. WHO: Well, all right then. The hover car spins around and speeds off into the distance. The heavy transport lumbers behind. After what seems like an eternity for Ramana, the hover car arrives at the TARDIS. RAMANA: Hurry, they'll be here soon. Help me inside. As the group get out of the car, their communicators chirp. JANEWAY: Voyager to Away Team SEVEN: Away Team here captain. JANEWAY: The Dalek defenses are down. Good work. Are their any casualties? Seven looks at Ramana and Ramana shakes her head. SEVEN: No lasting injuries captain. JANEWAY: Good. We're ready to beam you up. SEVEN: I will contact you when the rest of the Away Team arrives in a a few moments. Seven out. Ramana grimaces with pain. She leans on Seven's shoulder as they both enter the TARDIS. RAMANA: There is a room over this direction. Take me there. Seven takes Ramana into a small room just off the TARDIS control area. She eases Ramana down onto the bed and covers her. SEVEN: Thank you for saving me. Ramana grabs Seven's hand and holds it tight. RAMANA: You're welcome. You ae my friend. SEVEN: You are my friend too. I will miss you. RAMANA: I will miss you too. Oh, it's starting. Ramana lets go of Seven's hand and closes her eyes. A glow fills the room and Ramana is covered in a white gauzy film. Seven gets up and taking one last look, exits the room. The heavy transport arrives as Seven emerges from the TARDIS. Dr. Who, K-9, Andy and Eric climb down. K-9 heads into the TARDIS. DR. WHO: Where's Ramana? SEVEN: She is inside the TARDIS. She is, uh, tending to herself. Voyager has contacted us and is waiting to beam us aboard. RUTH: Thank you again Doctor for saving our planet. TIM: Yes, thank you Doctor. And you too, members of Voyager. We are forever in you debt. SEVEN: You are welcome. DR. WHO: What about Prof. Davros? Will he be all right? JULES: We'll help our father the best way we can. Realizing he aided in all the destruction seems to have been too much for now but I think he'll pull through. SEVEN: Are we ready to beam up? ANDY: Yes ma'am. ERIC: There's no place like home. LEONIE: Ready to go. T'RACY: Yes. Good-bye everyone. DR. WHO: Good-bye, take care. RUTH: Good-bye and thank you. JULES: Good-bye. TIM: See ya. The Voyager crew mates gather in formation while Seven hails the ship. SEVEN: Voyager, five to beam up. The Voyager crew disappear in the blue light of the transporter field. DR. WHO: Well, I must be off. Dr. Who wave to the group as he enters the TARDIS. Ruth, Jules and Tim watch as the TARDIS fades from view. Cut to: the TARDIS. Dr. Who engages the dematerialization sequence and sends the TARDIS on its way. He then turns to find RAMANA: DR. WHO: Ramana, where are you? Ramana's voice is heard through the closed door. RAMANA: In here, Doctor. DR. WHO: In there? What are you doing in there? RAMANA: I'm regenerating. DR. WHO: Regenerating? THE END |
